Kano Police rescue girl confined for 10 years, arrest 297 suspects over criminal acts

365Daily – The Kano State Police Command has rescued a 10-year-old girl whose biological parents confined to a room for 10 years.

This is just as 297 suspected criminals were arrested for various offences committed in the state.

Kano Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed the development in a press statement issued on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

He said the arrests was done as part of efforts to rid the state of crimes and criminality.

The PPPRO added that the arrests, made between April 10 to May 23, were outcomes of robust community policing engagements, intelligence-led and visibility policing, sustained synergy with sister security agencies and a massive campaign against thuggery (Daba).

The PPRO said those arrested include 187 suspected thugs, one suspected ATM fraudster and one suspected human trafficker.

Others are 80 suspected fraudsters and armed robbers, five suspected drug dealers, alongside seven suspected livestock and phone thieves.

Also arrested were seven suspected notorious kidnappers and gun dealers, seven car thieves and cattle rustlers, as well as two suspects in possession of counterfeit U.S. dollar notes.

The PPRO also said that the command recovered a screwdriver, masking tape, plastic ruler, pistol with the empty shell of .9mm ammunition, motor vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles and mobile phones.

Also recovered were illicit drugs such as cocaine, rubber solutions and ‘suck and die’.

Haruna said that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
