365Daily – The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, swore in Frank Ibezim as a member of the Senate representing Imo-North Senatorial District.

Ibezim, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the bye-election for the seat which was left vacant after the death of Sen. Benjamin Uwajumogu in 2020.

Despite his victory at the election months back, Ibezim was to engage in a legal battle over who the true candidate of the APC was for the contest.

While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared APC as winner of the election, there was no name attached to the victory, leading to a legal battle between him and Ifeanyi Ararume and Ibezim to the Supreme Court.

However, he finally took a place at the Red Chamber on Tuesday after the Clerk of the Senate, Ibrahim El-Ladan, administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance on him.
