Uzodinma attack: South-East Governors, monarchs, others meet behind closed doors

South-East Governors, on Sunday, April 25, 2021, met with leaders of the religious, traditional and socio-political institutions in the zone at the Government House, Enugu.

The meeting may not be unconnected to the Saturday’s attack on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s residence at Omuma in the Oru East Local Government Area of the state by unknown gunmen.

The hoodlums were said to have burnt the Governor’s house and vehicles parked at the compound during the attack.

A combined team of military, police, and DSS on Saturday morning, April 24, 2021, killed the Commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s security outfit Eastern Security Network (ESN), Ikonta, and six other IPOB members when they raided their hideout.

A source told our correspondent that the Governors summoned the meeting following the heightened tension in the South East zone occasioned by the report of northern traders in Enugu State attacking police and government officials with AK-47 rifles, blocking Enugu-Port-Harcourt road and razing down about 10 vehicles, including a police patrol van.
