365Daily – A 300-level university student Rhoda Agboje and her boyfriend, Ifeanyi Nwankwo, have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for producing and selling drugged cookies to school children and other unsuspecting members of the public in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory Command of the agency said it was on the heels for another member of the group who produces cookies laced with Arizona, ”a highly psychoactive variant of cannabis, alcohol, rohypnol and other ingredients.
Spokesperson of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, made the disclosure in a press statement issued on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in Abuja.
He said the suspect, Rhoda, was caught with 4 pieces of the cookies on Sunday, 18th, April at NNPC Cooperative Estate, opposite Gaduwa Estate in Abuja after a complaint that a young girl who ate it lost her mind.

”After eating the drug cookie, the girl lost her mind and could not sleep, making incoherent utterances due to the effects of the cookies.
”Under interrogation, the prime suspect, Rhoda, confessed she prepares the cookies with a friend and sells each pack for N1,500. A follow up operation in her boyfriend’s house led to the recovery of over 200 pieces of the drug cookies,” the statement said.
The statement quoted the Commander of FCT Command of NDLEA, Mohammed Malami Sokoto, as saying that the boyfriend, Nwankwo, and all the equipment used for the production of the cookies were taken to the office for further investigation.

”The suspect confirmed that she sells at parties to unsuspecting members of the public, including school children that are the most vulnerable. The suspect also supplies some supermarkets and clubs in the FCT,” it continued.
While commending officers and men of the FCT Command, the Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd.) said the act was ”not only criminal but equally unconscionable by deliberately luring school children into drug under the cover of selling biscuits or cookies.”
He warned parents to be aware of the ”new devious strategy to get children addicted to drug cookies” and to be vigilant in observing what their wards bring back home from school or consume as snacks.
