Ahmad Tijjani Abubakar, a former aide to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, did not voluntarily resign as claimed but was sacked for being allegedly fraudulent, sources have said.
Abubakar had posted a resignation letter he wrote to the Clerk of the National Assembly on his Facebook page on Sunday, January 31, saying that his integrity and peace of mind is priceless.
He wrote: “ALHAMDULILLAH. My integrity and peace of mind are priceless. One is off the other is on the way. May ALLAH SWT continue to be our source of everything we need in the name of our Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam.”
The letter stated in part, “With all due respect sir, I write to notify you of my desire to resign my appointment as a Legislative Aide to Rt. Hon. Ahmad Idris Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on personal grounds effective from February 28, 2021 which is exactly one month from the date of this letter as required in paragraph 3 of my Letter of Appointment dated 20th September 2019,”
“Sir, I hope my unpaid 2019 arrears will be kindly credited to my account also my other entitlements up to 28th February, 2021.”
However, 365Daily gathered that Abubakar, who was a Senior Legislative Aide (SLA), was relieved of his appointment in December, 2020, and replaced with a new person who has already resumed duties.

According to the source, the Kano State indigene received the letter from the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker two months ago.
”It is surprising that he is now saying he resigned when he was sacked after a complaint of fraud was established against him by the same person who recommended that he should be appointed,” the source said.
”He decided to go public with the letter he wrote to save his face because the person who replaced him has even resumed after documentation and even received salary for January, 2021.
“I cannot tell what all this is about,” he concluded.
When contacted, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Puma, corroborated the information.
Referring to a press statement issued by Hon. Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker, he stated, ”For the avoidance of doubt and to keep the records straight, it is imperative to clarify that the person in question was relieved of his appointment since last year, after he was discovered to be fraudulently using his position in the office to defraud ministries, departments and agencies.
”The Deputy Speaker, after receiving the complaints through his Chief of Staff Hon. Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, was left with no choice than to relieve him of appointment, and has since replaced him with Musa Suleiman Rabo whose appointment letter was appended and took effect from 8th December, 2020 against Ahmed’s belated letter of resignation dated 27th January 2021 and was supposed to be approved by the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker.
”Therefore, the reported voluntary resignation was a misrepresentation of what actually transpired. I, therefore, appeal to the media to always cross check their facts before going to press for proper and effective information dissemination.”
