Opinion: Digging for water

By Pastor Wale OlaOluwa

One commodity that is universal is water. It is a resource always available for the use of humanity.

It’s such a necessity for survival. It is a commodity you can find everywhere to use irrespective of your location, height; size; status; financial placement; or where you live.

Water is an essential liquid graciously given by God; and necessarily needed by everyone living on earth to live. The study of science through modern research has made it known clearly that you can survive without food for days, but you can’t survive without water.

Proven facts show that 85% of human body is made of; and runs on water. In fact, from pregnancy, a child that is being formed and developing is sustained inside a sack of water in a woman’s womb. For nine months, the baby grows, moves, eats and kicks in the water.

Likewise in adulthood, water is always needed and useful. That is why water is used for drinking, cooking; to wash, to bath, to irrigate farm for food, to generate electricity, to serve as base for mixing chemicals to get soft drinks, wine, drugs and etcetera. Honestly, water is an essential commodity you can’t do without because it is satisfying and gratifying!

As good as water is, if it is not clean, pure, and natural; it will be considered dangerous and harmful to human body. To get good water, you must dig for it. Water engineers say “when looking for water from the ground, the deeper you dig; the cleaner and purer water you will get”. It takes only the person who knows the depth of water to hit the point and get good water out.

God who created and owns the water knows the depth of it; and how fast you can dig to get to it. The Bible says, “The princess rigged the well, the nobles of the people rigged it, by the direction of the lawgiver…”(Numbers 21:18).

God is the lawgiver. He gives instructions on what to do; where to go and how far to go. God knows the end of your journey from the beginning. No man or woman has capacity to guide him or herself. Until you follow God’s instructions in all you do, you will never be satisfied in your pursuit in life.

In Jeremiah 10:23, it is clearly stated; “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his ways”.

You can not guide yourself to where satisfaction is. Real satisfaction is not in money; houses; cars or any acquisition.

Allow God to lead you to where the water is; the water of life that truly satisfies.

Jesus is the water of life. The more you drink of Him, the more you will be satisfied because He has said “Whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14).

Dear friends, just surrender your life to Jesus and secure eternal satisfaction for yourself here, and hereafter.
