The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), has said that it is taking steps to enhance service delivery and also prioritize on the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees in the work place or in the course of work.
This disclosure was made by the Ag. Managing Director/CE of the Fund, Dr Kelly Nwagha, when the National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of Servicom, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, paid him a courtesy/advocacy visit at the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Nwagha said that this new direction is targeted at changing the narrative of the Fund towards improved service provision.
According to Dr. Nwagha, NSITF’s services engender enhanced productivity of the employees, which in turn, impacts positively on the employer’s revenue profile.
He explained that, should accidents or diseases occur, “the Fund provides Rehabilitative cum Curative services. This includes reimbursement of the cost of healthcare services incurred by the injured employees, provision of artificial limbs for members, who may need them as a result of accident / disease, arising from, or in the course of the employment.
This is to enable injured employees improve their working capacity.”
Dr. Nwagha revealed that the Fund equally provides compensatory services, which include payment of disability claims, periodic payment to the next of kin of a deceased employee, payment for loss of productivity to the employee, among others.
The NSITF boss, disclosed that the Fund has “paid about N1billion to injured employees, arising from over 13,000 claims of work-related injuries and diseases, since the beginning of year, 2020. This is aside the Billions of Naira paid by the Fund for work related injuries since inception.”
He noted that, repositioning the NSITF for greater efficiency remains the commitment of his interim management team.
In her remarks, Mrs. Akajemeli, who led a delegation of senior officials from Servicom, emphasised the mantra of “Customer Need Above All Needs”, which guides their operations.
She advised that the place of stakeholders in running government service delivery should always remain a focal point in the activities of the NSITF.
The Servicom CEO also advocated for the Fund to maintain more media visibility in both the traditional and the new/social media space. Her call for better service delivery is apparently in line with the redirected focus of the new management on service provision.

While giving a vote of thanks, the Head of Servicom Unit in the NSITF, Mrs. Ijeoma Okoronkwo, thanked Mrs. Akajemeli for her continuous support for excellent service delivery in the public sector and promised to raise the bar of efficiency in service delivery in NSITF.
The Servicom delegation comprised of Mrs. Stella Benson, Mrs Ebele Igwilo, Mr. Tony Ochelebe, Mr Mfon Iniunam and Mrs. Henrieta Okokon.
While the NSITF team at the event included, Mrs. Temitope Akinwale, Barr. Maureen Allagoa, Mr. Baba Ma’aji Kabir, Dr. Michael Akabogu, Mr. Ponkap Zwalda and Mrs. Ijeoma Okoronkwo.
