The number of All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the House of Representatives has received another boost as another member of the House of Representatives, Mr Herman Hembe (Benue), has dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the APC.
The announcement of the move was contained in a letter read during Tuesday plenary by Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase.
The parliament has witnessed a gale of defection in recent weeks, with the APC raking in the numbers.
An attempt by Reps Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, however, to object to the defection by calling for Hembe’s seat to be declared vacant was futile.
The Deputy Speaker, who presided over the plenary, said in response to Elumelu’s request that declaring the defector’s seat vacant would be inconsistent with previous defections which were without consequences.
