5 dead as Boko Haram insurgents shoot down helicopter in Borno

...as Shekau releases new video

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have allegedly shot down a helicopter in Bama local government area of Borno State, with 5 people reportedly killed.

The incident which involved a Nigerien aircraft occurred at Banki town at about 10 a.m, according to Daily Trust reports.

There has been no official report on the incident, which is coming on the heels of the appearance of a new video showing factional leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.

The new video was released days after the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum and the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, announced a fresh manhunt against him and his top lieutenants.

In the video, Shekau warned that his capture will not end the war after boasting that he could not be caught, a report by eonsintelligence disclosed.

He said, “nobody can apprehend me. But if this is the case, it will not end the war.”

365Daily reports that this is not the first time Shekau would call the bluff of the government and make videos to contradict the claims of government that he had been either killed or wounded.

Media reports indicate that following the capture or kill order by the Nigeria military, Shekau is believed to be taking refuge in the hitherto rival ISWAP camp.
