President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, March 5, 2021, flagged off the COVID-19 vaccination exercise in Nigeria.
He was represented by the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
A frontline health worker, Dr. Cyprian Ngon was the first to be vaccinated at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Dr. Cyprian was said to have been in isolation centre since March 2020, treating patients from the deadly Corona Virus, hence the honour to receive the vaccine first.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, administered the first vaccine to the first recipient. Other health workers were also vaccinated.
In his vote of thanks, the Minister of State, Health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, expressed appreciation for the success of the day, and warned against rumour mongering in respect of the health safety of the vaccine.
