The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to his political camp, describing the move as a positive step that would strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to Fubara’s recent declaration of loyalty to President Tinubu and his return to what he described as the “Rainbow Coalition,” Wike said there was “no sin in politics.”
“If someone realises he made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that. What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and deciding to take the right path,” Wike said.
The minister maintained that Fubara had “no other choice” than to return to the political family that supported his emergence as governor.
“I said during my last media chat that he has no other choice but to return to the same political family that produced him,” Wike stated.
He said Fubara’s decision to publicly reunite with his political camp was a step in the right direction and would help consolidate political support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Wike reiterated that political reconciliation should be embraced whenever individuals acknowledge past mistakes and choose to work together in the interest of their political family and the country’s democratic process.
