The Ebonyi Chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Thursday, re-elected its executive members for a second term.
The election was held under a peaceful atmosphere in Abakaliki.
The motion for the re-election of the executive was moved by Charles Nwali of the Association of Senior Civil Servants and seconded by Nwanneka Chukwuba of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria.
The election was witnessed by government officials and representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.
The members of the re-elected executive include Chidi Igboji (Chairman), Nwanneka Chukwuba (Vice Chairman), Nwogbodo Vincent (Secretary), Aja Kelechi, (Treasurer), and Nwaji Sunday (Financial Secretary), among others.
The Chairman commended the delegates and members for re-electing them and pledged to continue to initiate policies and programmes aimed at promoting the welfare of members.
He expressed the optimism that the state chapter and the national body would continue to work in synergy.
“The election is acceptable. You journalists monitored everything we did here.
“Both SAC and SEC were all here. It was their decision, and the members of affiliate unions took that decision and re-elected us,” Igboji said.
A former state Chairman of NLC, Mr Ikechukwu Nwafo, hailed the TUC members for the smooth conduct of the election. (NAN)
