An Abuja Magistrate Court sitting in Zone 2, Wuse, has ordered the remand of Omoyele Sowore and four others at Kuje Correctional Centre in the Federal Capital Territory.
The five accused were arraigned in the court on Monday on charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.
Their formal bail application will be heard tomorrow, January 5, 2020.
They were arrested in Abuja on New Year Eve for holding a protest against bad governance.
Sowore is not new to arrests over protests against the present administration which he has constantly accused of incompetence.
Prior to the protest, he tweeted, “How about a crossover protest/uprising tonight? Anyone willing to participate? Pick up a candle and a placard showing your grievances against the regime; let’s upload our short videos and photos across our social media platforms. Let’s welcome the regime to a resolute 2021!
