The Police Command in Kebbi said it has killed one armed robbery suspect out of four who barricaded Marina Road leading to Kamba with intention to rob commuters.
The Police image maker, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement on Saturday, said that combined security forces led by the divisional police officer of Kamba, acting on credible information, mobilised to the scene and engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel leading to the killing of one out of the four armed robbers, while the rest ran into the forest with bullets wounds.
“Police and hunters are currently combing the forest to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang or their dead bodies”, he said.
He revealed that after repelling the robbery attack, a pistol with three rounds of live ammunition were recovered, adding that combined security forces have also identified bandits’ routes and are working to smoke them out.
CP, Bello Sani who commended the gallantry of the officers said the Command will sustain the onslaught against bandits, armed robbers and other criminal elements in Kebbi State.
He appealed to members of the public to maintain good ties with the police by reporting suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station for swift action.
“We salute your courage and bravery, and we assure you of our support as we have resolved to rid Kebbi of all crimes”.
