Chief Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, wife of the Enugu State Governor, has announced plans to enrol 868 pregnant women across the state in a health insurance programme under the Mama Care Initiative.
The initiative, which is designed to promote maternal and child healthcare and improve the welfare of expectant mothers, will commence with a launch and onboarding workshop for the selected beneficiaries.
Mrs. Mbah said the programme was aimed at ensuring that pregnant women could access timely and appropriate healthcare without being hindered by financial constraints.
According to her, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for mothers and children across Enugu State and give them a healthier start.
She expressed optimism that the programme would provide beneficiaries with the necessary support and peace of mind as they prepare for childbirth, while also contributing to better maternal and child health outcomes in the state.
