Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has launched a statewide free medical outreach aimed at providing quality healthcare services to over 5,000 residents across the state.
The initiative is being implemented by the Bauchi State Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, in partnership with the African Medical Centre of Excellence and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
This programme, which features free specialist consultations, diagnostic tests and referral services including cardiac checks and treatment was officially flagged off at the ATBUTH premises.
Governor Bala Mohammed, while speaking at the event, said the outreach demonstrates his administration’s resolve to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure inclusive access to medical services for all categories of citizens.
He praised the African Medical Centre of Excellence for extending specialised healthcare services to Bauchi, noting that the collaboration would significantly reduce avoidable illnesses and deaths, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the partnership and directed the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to mainstream the programme into the state’s healthcare system to guarantee long-term benefits.
In his remarks, the leader of the outreach, Brian Deaver, emphasised that early detection of diseases remains critical to improving survival rates and overall well-being.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, disclosed that a forty-member medical team is currently working with local health personnel, adding that patients with critical conditions have already been referred for advanced medical care.
