Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers Council, NSC, Dr. Pius Akuta has called on Benue people to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration led by President Tinubu and leader of the party in North Central, Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation beyond 2027 to enable the president consolidate on his good works.
Akuta who made the call in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue while speaking at a reception after a thanksgiving service organized in honour of a UK-based cleric, Emmanuel Agune, who was also honoured with the chieftaincy title of ” Sema Wan U Mbazeku” and Ambassadorial award of Kindness and Community Development by members of the Nongo Agune family in collaboration with youths of the community, elders and members of NKST Asukunya in Tarka Local Government Area.
He explained that Benue State has witnessed a lot of transformation during the present administration sighting the award of contract of river Buruku bridge, Wurukum roundabout flyover, appointment of Benue sons into key federal offices among others hence the support.
He praised efforts of the UK based cleric for his thirst for knowledge despite his humble background as well as his commitment to grassroot development, attesting that those antecedents endeared the cleric to thousands of people including his immediate community.
Akuta prayed God to continue to bless Pastor Agune so that he would continue to touch lives of those in need, especially within his immediate community, appealing to the people of Tarka and Gboko Federal Constituency to rally round Senator George Akume and President Tinubu for Benue to reap more dividends of democracy.
Emmanuel Ukura, Former Auditor General of the Federation, AGF acknowledged contributions of the honoree Pastor Agune, affirming that the cleric has awarded scholarships to students of Tarka in different institutions, employed teachers in selected community secondary schools in Tarka on his payroll, distribution of thousands of exercise books to schools in Mbakor and supported families for health and social needs.
He commended organizers of the event for the honor done the cleric and prayed God to grant him long life and open doors to continue the good works.
He thanked his family members, youths of the community, elders of the church for putting together the ceremony as well as others including politicians and traditional rulers who came from far and near to witness the occasion, declaring that the honour will spur him to do more.
