365Daily – Ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election, the candidate of Labour Party, Dr. George Moghalu and his running mate, Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, have announced its campaign comprising experienced technocrats, politicians, professionals, and grassroots mobilisers.

Hon. Afam Ogene, member of the House of Representatives and chairman of the Committee on Renewable Energy, was named Director of Media and Publicity. He will be supported by Engr. Theo Egbe as Deputy Director and Hon. Nigeria Mbachu as Secretary.

Announcing the appointments on Monday in Awka, the Director General of the campaign organisation, Arch. Okey Chukwuogo, described the newly constituted council as a “broad-based team with the competence and commitment to deliver a people-centered, issue-driven campaign that reflects the hopes and aspirations of Ndi Anambra.”

Also named was Barr. CJ Okoli Akirika, who will lead the Administration Directorate, while Prof. Oby Orogbu takes charge as Deputy Director in the Contact and Mobilisation unit.

Others include Hon. Uchenna Okafor (Wiper) as Director of Parks and Markets; Prof. Patrick Nky Obi as Director of Support Groups and Persons with Disabilities; Barr. Jude Umennajiego and Dr. Obinna Ngonadi in Operations; and CP Mike Okoli (Rtd) as Director of Security.

“This council brings together some of Anambra’s best minds in law, media, strategy, grassroots mobilisation and governance,” Chukwuogo said. “We are assembling not just a campaign team, but a team of transformation.”

Reacting to his appointment, Hon. Afam Ogene pledged to run a media campaign rooted in “truth, clarity, and the aspirations of the people.” He added, “We will tell the Anambra story differently and positively, through the vision of Dr. Moghalu and Mrs. Okaro.”

The Campaign Council also features directors for key strategic areas such as finance, legal, logistics, youth and student mobilisation, women Mobilisation, rlection management, religious affairs, welfare, and health.

According to the campaign DG, the inclusion of special advisers and assistants to the candidate — including Chief Chiedozie Epi Okoye (SSA to the Candidate and Campaign Council), Dr. Ikenna Agu (SSA on Media), and Ejoor Obasi (SA on Youths) — was to ensure real-time support and coordination across campaign activities.

Chukwuogo urged all appointees to begin work immediately, saying their roles are critical to the campaign’s vision of restoring purposeful governance to Anambra.

“This is not just a political assignment,” he stressed. “It is a solemn call to service. All appointees must bring their best to this task. Ndi Anambra deserve no less.”

The campaign council said its approach would emphasise “clean politics, issue-based engagements, and citizen-focused programmes” in the buildup to the polls.

Dr. Moghalu, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), is seeking to govern Anambra under the banner of a progressive alliance, with a focus on infrastructure, economic revitalisation, education, and security.
