365Daily – The government of Rivers State has demolished the entire complex of the House of Assembly.
The demolition is total of structures, equipment, vehicles, machines and anything within the vicinity of the complex.
This is the latest in the ongoing power tussle between the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and immediate past governer of the state, Nyesome Wike.
Two days ago, 27 of the state legislators defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a move that shows apparent loyalty to Wike.
Though a card carrying member of the PDP, Wike worked for the victory of the APC in the presidential election, and went ahead to take a ministerial appointment in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.
The FCT minister had accused his godson and anointed successor, Fubara, of working to pull down his “political structure.” His loyalists in the assembly had attempted to impeach the governor unsuccessfully, leading to a series of events that culminated in the demolition of the assembly building this morning.
