365Daily– President Bola Tinubu and King Charles of England have held a bilateral meeting ahead of the COP28 Climate Action Summit holding in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A press statement from the president’s media team disclosed that both leaders discussed issues of mutual interest at the meeting which held on Thursday.
President Tinubu, who departed Abuja for Abu Dhabi on Wednesday afternoon, is scheduled to deliver the Nigerian government’s position on climate action, renewable energy and climate financing on Friday.
Some of his top aides, ministers, governors, and lawmakers accompanied him to the COP28 summit.
He will also participate in a number of sideline events, including discussions on attracting foreign direct investment for climate action and on implementing Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan.
Other areas the president is expected to address include deeper bilateral partnerships to facilitate the implementation of Nigeria’s climate change initiatives and other collaborations aimed at facilitating the implementation of Nigeria’s Energy Transition, Article 6 Projects, Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes, Technology Transfer, Capacity Building, and Methane Mitigation initiatives.
