365Daily – Two people have died and another two critically injured in a fire outbreak that burnt down part of the Canadian Embassy located in the Central Business District of Abuja.
Confirming the incident which occurred on Monday, November 6, 2023, the Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, said two people were fatally injured in the incident.
Similarly, the head of Public Affairs of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, Nkechi Isa, confirmed the incident, saying it was caused by a diesel explosion in the generator house of the embassy.
According to her, two persons were fatally injured, and two others rushed to the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital in Abuja
Isa noted that the incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning while JMD company staff were servicing the Embassy’s power generating set.
“A diesel tank explosion in the generator house at the Canadian Embassy in the Federal Capital Territory has left two persons dead and two hospitalized at the National Hospital Trauma Centre with severe burns. The incident happened at about 10:45 am today,” she explained.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has sympathised with the Canadian government, diplomatic community, and all persons affected by a fire incident which occurred on Monday at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.
In a preas release issued on Monday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu assured the Canadian authorities of the full support of the Nigerian government in the aid of diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission who were particularly affected by the incident.
He prayed for the repose of the departed souls and wished all injured persons rapid and full recovery.
