The senate, Monday, refused to screen and confirm the nomination of Mr. Festus Keyamo from Delta for previously rejecting a summon of the National Assembly over youth empowerment programme under his purview as minister of state for Employment in the past administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The motion moved by Senator Darlington Nwokocha, seconded by Senator Enyinnaya Abariba was accepted by majority of the senators at the preceding.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio put the question twice to make informed decision on whether to continue the screening for the embattled nominee or not.
The motion turned the senate preceding into a rowdy session as senators continued to argue over the matter.
Akpabio said that certain indices would have been considered by the president of the federal republic before Keyamo was nominated.
Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele urged his colleagues that the matter be considered in an executive or closed session, and that the senate should extend its time beyond 2:00pm to enable decision reached.
