365Daily – The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has expressed confidence in the ability of the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to perform better than his predecessors in securing Nigeria.
He, however, added that providing security for a diverse country like Nigeria is a tough but possible task.
He made this known in his valedictory speech during the pulling-out ceremony organised for him by the armed forces at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja on Friday.
Irabor urged Nigerians to honour men and women of the Armed Forces as the country owes them a debt that cannot be fully paid.
The former defence chief also appealed to citizens not to engage in acts that can undermine the Nigerian military, which he described as a beacon of hope, unity and stability.

In attendance at the event were senior military officers, former Chiefs of Defense Staff, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Irabor was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021, replacing General Abayomi Olonisakin.
On June 19, 2023, President Tinubu replaced all the incumbent service chiefs, with Maj. Gen. C.G Musa succeeding Irabor as the Acting Chief of Defence Staff, pending confirmation by the National Assembly.
