Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze South federal constituency: LP’s Obetta emerges winner

Labour Party candidate for Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze South federal constituency, Hon. Chidi Mark Obetta has been returned as winner of Saturday election in the constituency

The Returning officer, Prof Romanus Eze who declared the results said Chidi Obetta scored a total of 50,881 vote to defeat his closest rival, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Chief Vita Abba who polled 19, 347 votes.

Vita Abba was said to have called Chidi Obetta in the early hours of Sunday even ahead of the formal declaration of the results and congratulated him saying “Mark of Excellence, Congratulations!

“I, and my family members -my wife and children – are on our way to the Church now, so I decided to call, and congratulate you over yesterday election.

“I want to extend my hand of fellowship to you, and to assure you that hat I am ready to co-operate with you to move our federal constituency forward”.

In his reaction Hon. Obetta expressed gratitude to Vita Abba’s spirit of sportsmanship and patriotism saying that he was greatly humbled and encouraged when Chief Vita Abba called and congratulated him as the winner of the federal constituency election.

He stated that his PDP opponent after congratulating him assured him that he will be available to assist him move the welfare of the people of the federal constituency forward.

He described Chief Vita Abba’s action as a reassurance to him that his mandate is Divinely Ordained.

He restated his campaign promise that he will make sure that whatever that is due to the federal constituency from the federal government during his tenure will be brought home for the benefit of the constituents.

He also assured that when inaugurated as member representing the federal constituency he will be ready to work with every patriotic citizen of the constituency to deliver on his campaign promises.

“I am going to work with everyone irrespective of political affiliation to move Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze South federal constituency forward “, Hon. Obetta emphasised.
