‘Army deserter’ arrested over murder of Gulak, attacks on Imo police stations

The Imo State police command has arrested one Chinwendu Nwagwu, a suspected killer of Ahmed Gulak, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The suspect was paraded during a press briefing in Owerri, the state capital, on Wednesday, the Cable reports.

Gulak, a former political advisor to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was killed on May 30, 2021, in Owerri while on his way to the airport.

He was on his way to catch a flight to Abuja after visiting the state.

The police said the suspect is an army deserter who hails from Amaohuru in Nguru, Aboh-Mbaise LGA of Imo state.

The suspect was also said to have confessed to masterminding the attack on Imo correctional centre in April 2021 as well as attacks on several police stations in the state.
