365Daily – Rishi Sunak is the next Prime Minister (PM) of the United Kingdom (UK).
It became apparent earlier in the day that he would emerge the new Prime Minister after ex-PM, Boris Johnson, dropped out of the race.
Barely two months ago, Sunak lost his bid to be PM but won the Conservative Party leadership race and is set to become the next UK PM.
The development follows the resignation of Liz Truss, who barely held the seat for about 6 weeks after Boris Johnson’s exit.
As a Briton with Indian ancestry, Sunak will be the first person of colour and first Hindu to lead the country.
A former chancellor, Sunak challenged Truss in a recent party leadership race, but lost. This time around, his main opponent, Penny Mordaunt, failed to secure enough Tory support and was forced to drop out.
