365Daily – Former aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket and ex-Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that the Nigerian masses are responsible for the poor state of Nigeria.
Amaechi said this on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the 60th birthday of the General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission, Eugene Ogu, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The former Rivers Governor said the average Nigerian is more interested in collecting money to solve their immediate problems, than making the right choice to help Nigeria grow in the long run.
He, therefore, called for prayers that God will help Nigerians vote for the right person to lead Nigeria in the forthcoming general elections on February 2023.
Amaechi had lost his bid to contest for President in the election under the platform of the APC but came second after polling 316 votes to ex-Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu’s 1,271 votes.
Speaking on instant gratification instead of working for the good of the country, he alleged that delegates who sold their votes at the 2022 APC convention which produced the Party’s flagbearer, Sen. Ahmed Tinubu, have started regretting their actions.
He stated in a report by Cable: “I don’t believe that is the solution to Nigeria’s problem — giving money. I hope you know. I give you N10 million now and when it finishes, what happens? The solution to Nigeria’s problem is that all of you must rise.
“God should save the ordinary Nigerian, because they are the problem. Those who voted at the APC primary, who are they? The ordinary Nigerian. The small money they got solved their immediate problems.
“Now ‘oh we made a mistake’; ‘we didn’t make a mistake’. We are hearing different things. Pray for the leadership of the country, but also pray that ordinary Nigerians choose the right person to govern.”
