Bishops at APC ceremony speak out, say ‘we are not fake’

365Daily  – The Presiding Bishop of a Christian denomination, Team Impact Ministry Network, Williams Chanomi, has denied that he and his colleagues who attended the unveiling of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate to Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are fake.

In a statement personally signed by Bishop Chanomi on Friday, he said they were not impostors, but attended the event because as men of God, they were supposed to be non-partisan.

In the statement, he said, “Our attention was drawn to the media, especially the social media backlash on Wednesday 20th July, 2022 visit by some Bishops to the official unveiling of the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, in Abuja.

“We want to make it categorically (clear) that we are neither fake nor any member of those that were in attendance. That as men of God who are not partisan, we owe Nigerians a spiritual duty to offer prayers for supplication especially at a trying moment like this. APC event cannot be an exception”.

Chanomi revealed further that the APc event was not the first event where they were invited to offer prayers.

He said they were invited in 2015 to pray for the reconciliation between Ex. President Goodluck Jonathan and Ex. Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State respectively.

“We wish to inform in clear terms too, that attending such an event doesn’t in anyway endorse any candidature of any political party nor its candidate.

“No financial transaction, inducement or any business engagement of any kind took place between us and any other official for the holy assignment,” he added.
