TRIBUTE – The Rt. Hon. Lynda Chuba-Ikpeazu: Celebrating a sister and an icon

By Stella Oduah

There are few politicians who practice what they preach, and can boast of cult-like followership from the masses. Hon. Linda Chuba-Ikpeazu is one of the very few.

Like we all know, some see politics as means to personal enrichment, but in the case of this beautiful soul, the reverse is the case, for over the course of her nearly 4 term journey in the green chambers as the Member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, she has not only displayed great leadership but has shown that she’s a compassionate mother on a mission to provide a better life and society for her constituents.

I’ve had the honor and privilege of working closely with her over my nearly 2 term stint in the red chambers and although as a Senator, her domain falls under my district and have been able to bond with her and establish a working relationship that has benefitted not just us but the masses at large.

She is one lawmaker who would always put her people first and I say this without batting an eyelid and together, we have done so much in Onitsha North and South to the point where constituents now look to us for solutions to issues that ordinarily should fall directly within the purview of the Executive branch of government!

On a personal note, my maternal grandmother is from the Molokwu family in Ogbeoza village Onitsha, and all my life, I’ve had this soft spot for this great town and it’s people.

In other words, Hon. Linda Chuba-Ikpeazu bu nnukwu nnem ochie! This means that she’s both my mother and also my sister!

My journey in implementing the transformation of Anambra North Senatorial District is made easier with lawmakers and allies like Hon. Linda Chuba-Ikpeazu, for she effortlessly replicates the magic at the senatorial level down at the federal constituency level.

It was not surprising that like myself, she was resoundingly returned to contest for the 2023 general elections which clearly shows that the “super women” of Anambra North are the best and the team to beat any day any time.

I honestly believe that we shall do even more this time and that our relationship will foster even greater achievements; politically and development wise.

It is at this point that I want to specially congratulate and celebrate this trailblazer and Amazon, as she clocks a year younger today. Yes, younger because like fine wine, she gets better with time.

Nne Ochie, I wish you a very happy birthday and a wonderful and positively eventful year and I pray that God Almighty will shower you with all the best of life, health and love.

Happy birthday Ezigbo Nnem Ochie!

Senator Oduah, a former Minister of Aviation, represents Anambra North in the Senate.
