An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Monday ordered a 47-year-old man, Emmanuel Benson, sweep the court premises for one week for assaulting a woman.
Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi, in her ruling, sentenced him without an option of fine.
Adeyemi said that the prosecution counsel proved its case beyond reasonable doubts.
The convict, who lives at No.22 Basiru Adamu St., Plaza road, Ota, was charged with assault.
He had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O. Adaraloye told the court that convict committed the offence on Oct. 30,2021, at about 7.30 p.m., at his residence.
Adaraloye said that the convict beat up Ms Naomi Zion and dragged her on the floor, causing her injures on her left hand.
The prosecution said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 355 of the Criminal Code,Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.(NAN)
