2023: Saraki, Okorocha declare interest in presidential race

365Daily – Immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki and former Governor of Imo State and serving Senator, Rochas Okorocha,  have announced their decision to run for the country’s presidency in 2023.

Saraki, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed this on social media in response to one of his followers.

He stated: “As we prepare for the journey ahead, I hope we can all join hands to get the ticket of our great party, PDP, and build a nation that works for all of us.

“Join me to make our communities safer and provide real opportunities for you and your families. I have a strong record of delivering and experience in making tough decisions.”

On his part, Okorocha, who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed his presidential ambition on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

He made it known in a letter addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan, which was read during plenary.

In the letter dated January 25, 2022, Okorocha notified his colleagues of a proposed World Press Conference where he would formally inform Nigerians of his presidential ambition.

APC chieftain, Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, of the same party, had earlier declared for the presidential race.
