San Marino, the world’s worst international football nation that conceded 735 goals

365Daily – San Marino’s male football team remains the weeping boys of international football, since its debut game against Switzerland in 1990, which it lost by 4 – 0.

This woeful trend continued on Monday, November 15, 2021, as it was once again bashed mercilessly at home by England in a Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying game that ended 10 – 0.

This mountainous Italian speaking tiny nation, described by Wikipedia as a microstate, has a population of 33,938, according to World Bank’s 2020 record and holds the unenviable record as the lowest ranked football nation in the world by FIFA.

It is also considered as the worst international football team, going by its comical record of scoring only 24 goals and conceding 735 in its international football competition history that began in 1990.

Records show that San Marino has competed in the qualifiers of every European Championship and World Cup, but have never won a match in either competition. They have only ever won one game, against another European microstate, Liechtenstein 1–0 in a friendly match on April 28, 2004.

Results of its last 30 competitive games, which it lost, conceding 247 goals and scoring only two, have continued to raise questions about the objective in participating competitively in a sport that it obviously lacks competency and required talents.
