UniAbuja staff quarters abduction: Rescue mission in progress, says Police

365Daily– The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, has disclosed that a combined team of policemen and soldiers have been mobilised to the Staff Quarters of University of Abuja in Giri, where gunmen abducted four persons and children on Tuesday morning.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer,  Josephine Adeh, the command said security operativeshave also been deployed to the main and satellite campuses of the university to provide security for residents.

It said: “The police have also dispatched additional tactical and conventional policing resources to the main and satellite campuses of the university to ensure safety of the residents.

“A combined team of the police and personnel of the Nigerian Army, 176 Guards Battalion, were swiftly mobilised to the area to protect the citizens.”

While calling for calm, the Police assured the residents that the security forces were working with the locals in the area as part of efforts to rescue the victims.

The Commissioner also assured the residents that the perpetrators would be arrested and brought to book.
