Uba not fingered in Anambra killings – Police

By Deborah Hassan

365Daily – The Anambra State Police Command has debunked reports linking the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in next Saturday election, Sen. Andy Uba, to confessions of an arrested gunman in the state.

News circulating on social media, purportedly based on a confession by a gunman arrested by the police, said the suspect alleged he was hired by the candidate of the APC, Senator Andy Uba, to destabilise the state.

However, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Anambra State Command, DCP Aderemi Adeoye, who spoke on behalf of CP Echeng Echeng, absolved Sen. Uba of the claim.

According to him, the trending news which was entitled “My gang was paid millions by Andy Uba to kill and maim in Anambra” is fake because no suspect in its custody has made such confession to the police.

CP Echeng stated that such a disclosure would have led to the questioning of the implicated person as no one is above the law.

He, therefore, urged the general public, particularly, the good people of Anambra State, to disregard the news.

The CP also implored the press to be objective, vigilant and assist the Police in reporting security-related issues.
