Scrabble: We will concentrate on grassroots competitions to develop in Nigeria

Olobatoke Aka, the international representative in the board of the Nigeria scrabble federation, has emerged winner of the Federation election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the election, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Aka was elected unopposed with 11 votes and one void.

NAN reports that in the vice presidential election, Bright Idaho from South South emerged winner with eight votes against his opponent, Mary Ndahi, from the North who had four votes.

Aka said Nigeria is best known as the best in scrabble in the whole world.

“We are yet to conquer the Youths, I still have a lot that I can offer for the progress of the game.

“I’m am going to concentrate on grassroots and we are set to conquer the youth this is going to be our target,” he said.

He said the sport will regain its popularity among other sports in the country.

“Scrabble has been a passion for me all this while and I have never left the scrabble since. I have watched the scrabble high.

“I’ m back to restructure the sports and to make it alive in the country,” he said. (NAN)
