365Daily – Mr. Francis Nwaze, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has said it is because of his sterling performance that many groups and stakeholders across the country are endorsing him for President in 2023.
He disclosed this on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, when he received the newly elected executive of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State, on a courtesy call in his office at Old Government House, Abakaliki.
He said Umahi had done well as Governor and was now a “hot cake”, which everybody was desirous to have at the centre.
Nwaze further said the Governor had embarked on several projects that were geared towards securing the future of Ebonyi State, as well as ensuring that Ebonyi State was economically independent.
“The fact is that in Ebonyi State, what Governor Umahi is doing is that he is making lives better for Ebonyians. How does he do this? These things you see he is doing: the security of lives and property, construction of flyovers, construction of medical University, construction of international airport, construction of international market, construction of international shopping mall, etc.
“All these projects are geared towards securing the future of Ebonyi State, that is, working towards ensuring that Ebonyi State can be independent on its own. And when you see different groups and stakeholders calling on Governor Umahi to come and replicate what he is doing in Ebonyi State at the national level, it tells you that Governor Umahi has done well and he is now a hot cake, which everybody desires to have,” Nwaze asserted.
The Governor’s spokesman further commended the members of Correspondents’ Chapel for the partnership and cooperation that had been existing between the Chapel and the Ebonyi State Government and assured that better days were ahead.
He congratulated the Chapel for electing a new executive, which he said emerged in an election devoid of rancour, sentiment and side attractions.
“We did it before with the past administration and we will do it better this time,” the Media Aide stated.
While advising the new executive to carry everybody along, he urged members of the Chapel to continue to play their watchdog role with diligence and sense of responsibility.
“No matter the position you are, don’t say it is the highest. Do everything you can to carry everybody along.
“So, I charge you to continue to play the role of watch dog, and continue to work and advice the leaders where necessary; continue to balance your report; don’t always do a report that is one sided, always hear from both sides to balance your report; that is when journalism is sweet.
“Also, always do your report when the event is fresh, to maintain the timeliness,” he concluded.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Nwafor Samson, assured that his leadership would redouble the partnership and cooperation that exist between the Chapel and the government of Ebonyi State, noting that Governor Umahi had done well and the journalists owed him partnership, support and cooperation.
“We thank you for being a great partner. You have done well as the image maker of the Governor. We want to assure you that the new leadership led by me will redouble the existing mutual understanding, partnership and cooperation between you and the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State. That is a promise, and we shall live no stone unturned to ensure it is made possible.
“The truth is that the State Governor, Engr Chief David Umahi, has done well. He has actually demonstrated that he is a leader with a difference. What do we owe him as Journalists serving in Ebonyi State? It is cooperation and support to making sure that all the dreams he has for the betterment of Ebonyi State is fully realised,” he said.
