365Daily – The Northern Governors Forum has described the loss of lives in the boat accident which occurred at Ngaski Local Government of Kebbi State as tragic.
The Chairman of NGF, who is also the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, said this on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Jos.
Lalong, in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Macham, said the Governors were distressed by the incident.
The statement added that what was more worrisome about the incident is the fact that its victims were going about their daily activities to earn a living.
365Daily learnt that the boat conveying passengers from Loko in Niger State to a market in Kebbi State was overloaded.
Lalong, therefore, urged relevant authorities to improve on supervision and more vigorous monitoring of inland water transportation in the country to forestall a recurrence.
He prayed to God to grant the families of those affected by the boat mishap the fortitude to bear the loss.
