365Daily – Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has flagged off the 2021 inter primary and secondary schools sports competition in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of of the State.
Declaring the event open at Ezzamgbo, the council headquarters, on Tuesday, 11 May, 2021, Umahi said the annual competition among schools in the state was aimed at discovering new and hidden talents among pupils and students.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Environment, Comrade Jonah Egba, urged the participants to accept the competition in good faith and with the spirit of sportsmanship.
He also assured them that government was ready to further groom talents that would be discovered at the end of the competition.
Furthermore, he added that the exercise will an opportunity to unite various schools within Ohaukwu LGA, and in extension, the entire state, to promote unity, friendliness and all round development in Ebonyi State.
The Commissioner enjoined the participants to utilise the opportunity to showcase their individual talents while the competition lasts.
Other stakeholders at the event included the Council Chairman, other public office holders and the organisers of the competition in Ohaukwu LGA.
They reemphasised that the winners would be encouraged with gifts and would be selected to participate at the zonal and State levels.
