365Daily – The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has disclosed the agency is adopting a coordinated approach to addressing threat of attacks on airport facilities across the country.
He made this known in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Sola Odumosu, on Friday, April 30, 2021, in Abuja.
Audi said all State Commandants have been directed to liaise with airport management authorities and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen the internal security mechanism of the facilities in order to prevent any attack.
He stated that this was in addition to deployment of NSCDC’s specialised unit operatives to all airports.
Furthermore, he explained that “the move is necessary to elicit credible intelligence that will not only prevent such attacks but also to bring those behind the purported acts to book.
“The Corps could not afford to treat the security of Nigerians with kid gloves,” he said.
Audi called for collaboration of citizens with the security agencies to tackle rising insecurity in the country. He said one way that would be useful is voluntarily provision of credible information about any suspicious movement or criminals activities.
The CG assured that the identity of informants would be kept in confidence.
