Osinbajo decorates Baba as Acting IGP

365Daily – The newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, was on Wednesday,  April 7, 2021, decorated for his new post by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja.

A Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Baba was on Tuesday, April 6, appointed the acting Inspector General of Police by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He replaced Mr Mohammed Adamu whose tenure elapsed in February, but was extended for three months by Buhari.

Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, announced Baba’s appointment while addressing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa.

He said that the appointment took immediate effect.

Baba would have to be confirmed by the Senate before he can function in full capacity as the IGP.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, outgone IGP, Mohammed Adamu and the Minister of Police Affairs, Dingyadi, witnessed the event.

Also present were the Permanent Secretaries, of State House, Tijjani Umar and the Ministry of Police Affairs, as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
