Anambra Gov. election: PDP releases time-table, holds primary June 26

Ahead of the November 6, 2021 Anambra Gubernatorial elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has unveiled its 2021 gubernatorial election/candidate nomination time table and schedule of activities.

The table released by the party’s Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation, was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd).

It stated that notice of election to state chapter will commence on February 26, 2021, and would be followed by sales of expression of interest (EOI) and nomination (NOI) forms on Monday, March 1 and close on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

The table stated that the last day for submission of EOI and NOI forms is April 7; screening of aspirants at the National Secretariat on April 12; submission of screening report and distribution of provisional clearance certificate on May 18 and appeals on screening exercise on May 24.

It added: Ward congresses to elect 3-man adhoc ward delegates to hold on June 10 – June 11; ward congresses appeal on June 16; NWC meeting to approve ward congresses June 17; Local Government congresses to elect 1 national delegate and person with disability per LGA June19; Local Government congresses appeals, June 22; MWC meeting to approve LGA congresses and delegates list June 24 and publication of delegates list June 25.

Gubernatorial primary (candidate nomination) will hold on June 26; appeals on the primary on June 29; presentation of certificate of return on July 5; certification of Deputy Governorship candidate by the NWC and compilation of documents on July 6; while the last day for submission of names of candidate and deputy to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was scheduled for July 9.

Furthermore, the last day for the withdrawal and replacement of withdrawn candidate is July 30 and last day for submission of agents’ names to the INEC electoral officer of the local government area is October 21.
