Ground breaking ceremony for Kano-Niger Railway Project set for Tuesday

 

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed that the ground breaking ceremony for the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse Railway Project will hold next Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

In a tweet posted Friday, February 5, Amaechi said President Muhammadu Buhari will undertake the ground breaking.

”We are pleased to announce the Ground breaking of the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse Railway Project, slated for Tuesday. Our @NGRPresident @MBuhari would do the honours. Work begins.,” he posted.

The project was harshly criticised when it was first disclosed to the public by the government, with many Nigerians querying why the Nigerian government was using public resources to provide rail services to neigbouring Niger while many states were yet to be considered for a railway project.
