The management of the Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), has taken comprehensive measures to ensure the strict observance with COVID-19 protocols in a view to guard against its spread amongst staff and students just as the institution resumes.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sulaiman Bala Mohammed made the disclosure while interacting with newsmen in his office on Thursday on their preparedness.
He stated that the use of facemask at the first entry point of the university has been made compulsory while the hand washing basins and hand sanitizers were provided at different locations for the use of all. Handbills, billboards and other forms of education/enlightenment campaign would be intensified.
Sulaiman who was full of praises to the Visitor of the University Governor, Governor Abdullahi Sule, the state governor, for his supports, said plans are underway to establish an isolation centre and ensure rapid testing of both the staff and students.
On the issue of the school session which was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, he stated that it would start right away and ended by October representing the 2019/2020 academic session.
Speaking about the paucity of funds being faced by the University in attending to its various obligations and financial challenges, the Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that the state government is coming to their aid, but in the interim the university is going to conduct a biometric to ascertain the actual number of its staff.
