James Eze’s ‘dispossessed’, his debut collection of poems has won the Association of Nigerian Authors Poetry Prize for year 2020.
Eze, who is the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, had his work, ‘dispossessed’ announced winner along with “Orere: Songs of a Thousand Tides”, by Abiodun Bello, at the just ended 39th International Convention of ANA that took place in Ilorin, Kwara State.
ANA Prizes are Nigeria’s longest running literary prizes and probably the most respected because they represent the opinion of writers on art and craft their fellow writers.
The prize came exactly one year after ‘dispossessed’ was released to critical acclaim by critics and fellow writers.
According to Eze, since it debuted, the book has found its way to leading online retailers in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, South Korea, Ireland, South Africa, India and Russia.
