Gambari, Ministers in Kano over inter-state road project

A Federal Government delegation has visited Kano to assess the progress of work in the ongoing reconstruction of Kano-Zaria-Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.

The delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, also had the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola alongside the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who took the delegation to Karfi town, for an on the spot assessment of ongoing work, expressed hope that the project will be executed without delay.

In a statement by Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State, the governor said the visit testified to the determination and seriousness of the Federal Government to ensure the speedy completion of the strategic inter-state road.

Ganduje was earlier at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) where he received the delegation, that will also proceed by road to Kaduna State alongside the governor for a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders on the all-important Federal Government’s project.

An official of the construction company, (Julius Berger Nigeria) that is handling the project, briefed the governor and his guests on the methodology and recycling technology adopted in the ongoing work, adding that Nigeria was fast becoming a major force in road construction and other people-oriented infrastructural development.

The governor was also joined by the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Development, Idris Rimi and other top government functionaries during the visit.
