A Nigerian Embassy security staff in Berlin, Germany, who allegedly solicits sex from women before issuing passports or visas, has met his waterloo as he has been suspended following the leakage of a video of him caught in the act.

The Nigerian embassy in Germany confirmed this in a statement signed by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Hon. Yusuf Tuggar, on Tuesday. It said the suspension was in connection with allegations of sexual abuse and other serious criminal activities.

The staff, simply identified as Mr Martins in the viral video, works as a local staff in the security unit.

The person who was recording the video, identified as Mr Obinna by another person who was also in the hotel room where Martins was caught pants down with a woman believed to be his victim, kept telling him, “ Mr Martins, your time is up,” “your cup is full,” repeatedly.

He further said, “See what is happening here in Germany, see what this Martin is doing to our children here in Germany.”

Holding the camera on Martins all the while, he said he had followed him for a while to gather evidence against him that he was forcing girls to go to bed with him for services that should have been granted to them officially without additional costs.

“You rejected her and told the woman downstairs not to capture her, we have it on record…a lot will come to testify,” he also disclosed.

Mr Obinna, who spoke Hausa and Yoruba in the recording, added that he was sent to investigate the matter by the Nigerian community who were fed up with his antics and promised to take it up with higher authorities.

Below is the statement from the Nigerian Embassy in Germany on the suspension of Mr Martins pending conclusion of an investigation instituted on the matter.

“The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Germany announced today that it has suspended with immediate effect a local staff( security unit) in connection with allegations of sexual abuse and other serious criminal activity.

“The staff, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was suspended following the circulation of material on social media that suggested the official was demanding sexual favours in return for official services.

“HE Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Ambassador in Germany said: “we have a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of office and especially of sexual misconduct. Our full resources are being deployed to investigate a very serious incident and any other abuses that this inquiry may reveal.

“The investigation is taking place with all the urgency and diligence that this very serious situation demands. When due process is complete, any guilty party can expect to face the full weight of the law. Our heartfelt sympathies are with any innocent victims of abuse.”
