Kannywood actress, Rahma Sadau, has been summoned by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, through the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, over allegations of threatening public peace through blasphemy.
The actress had, on Monday, posted pictures of herself on her instagram page wearing a backless dress with uncovered hair. Islam, which Sadau practices, prohibits such dressing.
Immediately the pictures went viral, the controversial actress was banned by the northern movie industry,Kannywood, and came under harsh criticism and threats.
The ban from Kannywood was the second, the first being for appearing in a music video with a male Nigerian musician and ‘indecent touching’.
A remorseful Sadau later deleted the post and apologised in a video that also went viral for her actions which she said she regretted.
But if she thought that was the end, she was mistaken as state authorities have now taken up the matter.
In a letter signed by the principal staff officer to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, the CP of Kaduna State was ordered to look into a petition written by one Mallam Lawal Gusau.
A copy of the letter, dated November 3, 2020, marked CR:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/Vol.508/313, was posted on social media by FIM Magazine.
The letter is titled, ‘Complaint of Causing and Acknowledging Derogatory and Blasphemous Comments Against Prophet Muhammed On Rahma Sadau, Kaduna, Kaduna State and Request for Urgent Intervention’.
It stated in part, “I am to convey the directive of the Inspector General of Police that you treat proactively with a view to ensuring that the development does not result in any act that could threaten public peace and security. The Inspector-General of Police further directs that you furnish him with updates accordingly.”
The actress was reportedly on her way to Dubai but had to shelve the trip in order to honour the invitation.
