South African music star and Grammy Award winner Tyla has removed Lagos from the list of cities on her upcoming A*POP World Tour, fueling speculation among fans and entertainment industry observers.
The singer had earlier announced that she would perform in Lagos on December 22, 2026, as part of the global tour. However, the latest itinerary published on her official platforms no longer includes the Nigerian city.
The development comes after days of heated debate on Nigerian social media, where some users opposed the planned concert over reports of xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa. While some supported calls for the event to be cancelled, others argued that artists should not be held accountable for political or social tensions between countries.
Among those who commented on the controversy was social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, who criticised the planned Lagos concert. In contrast, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore urged Nigerians not to direct their anger at the singer, maintaining that she should not be blamed for incidents of xenophobia in South Africa.
Despite widespread speculation over the removal of the Lagos date, neither Tyla nor her management has issued an official statement explaining the decision. Similarly, concert organisers have yet to announce whether the show has been cancelled or postponed.
For now, Lagos remains absent from the singer’s official tour schedule, while performances in other cities continue to feature on the itinerary, leaving fans awaiting clarification on the status of the Nigerian concert.
