365Daily –  President Bola Tinubu has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending weeks of speculation over the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

The development was disclosed on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, in a post on his verified X account.

Dare said President Tinubu submitted his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC at the Continental Hotel in Abuja as the party’s sole presidential candidate.

“About now, at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, President Tinubu submits INEC nomination form to the APC NWC as Sole Presidential Candidate for the 2027 Elections. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has equally tapped Kashim Shettima, the current Vice President, Senator, as his running mate for vice president in the 2027 election,” Dare wrote.

The announcement effectively puts to rest persistent speculation that the President might replace Shettima on the APC ticket following months of political manoeuvring and unconfirmed reports of possible changes ahead of the 2027 general election.

With the confirmation, the Tinubu-Shettima ticket that secured victory in the 2023 presidential election will seek a second term under the APC banner, as the ruling party begins preparations for the next general election.
