365Daily – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from alleged endorsement lists circulating in several states, particularly in the South East, warning party members and stakeholders against recognising the documents as official.
The party said the purported lists, which reportedly contain names of endorsed aspirants for upcoming primaries, were neither authorised nor approved by its leadership.
In a statement issued on Friday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director, the NDC said the lists failed to include the names of several aspirants who duly purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms and completed the screening process.
“We wish to state categorically that such lists do not represent the position of the party and do not contain the names of several aspirants who officially purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms,” the statement read.
The party urged its State Executive Committees, party faithful, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard the lists entirely, insisting that they did not originate from the NDC.
According to the statement, the party leadership remains committed to allowing all cleared aspirants to participate in the primaries through either consensus arrangements or direct primary elections in line with the party’s constitution.
“The national leadership of the NDC is not aware of any such endorsement lists, nor has any list been authorised or approved by the party leadership,” the statement added.
The NDC further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and due process in the conduct of its internal electoral process.
The party maintained that all aspirants who purchased expression of interest forms and successfully passed screening would be given equal opportunity to contest in the primaries.
